We provide the space - you provide the writing!

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.

How It Works: Committed to writing 50,000 words in the 30 days of November? Follow these easy steps to get started:

1. Fill out your profile
Complete your profile at www.nanowrimo.org/sign_up so like-minded writers can connect with you. There’s no better place to introduce yourself as an author.

2. Create your novel starting in October
In order to update your word count in November, you need to give your novel a title (don’t worry, you can always change it later!). You cannot write your novel on our site, but you can share a short synopsis and excerpt.

3. Start Writing
Starting on November 1, update your word count via the dashboard or header menu.

4. Claim Your Win
Starting on November 20, paste the full text of your novel into our word-count validator to win.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a nonprofit event that encourages kids and adults to tackle the challenge of writing a novel in November. Launched in 1999, NaNoWriMo inspires its 300,000+ participants with pep talks, a huge and supportive online community, and a host of web-based writing tools.
