Harriet Tubman Wasn't Born To Be No Slave [Zoom Webinar]

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Event Details

Harriet Tubman was born into slavery on a plantation in Maryland where she endured physical, mental and emotional torment at the hands of her slave master. Even with the odds against her, she was determined to free herself and several others from the bondage of slavery. She became an antislavery activist working on the Underground Railroad, as well as a nurse, and Union Army spy.

Harriet Tubman will be portrayed by the renowned historical interpreter, Dr. Daisy Century. Dr. Century will not only dress as and act out the character, she will become like the living embodiment of Harriet Tubman. As Dr. Century navigates the history of Harriet Tubman, the audience will be captivated by the inspirational and touching story of one of the most iconic Black women in the history of the United States.

Dr. Century has trained as a teacher, as an actor with the American Historical Theatre, is a published author, and an accomplished singer. She has performed at notable venues including-but, not limited to, the National Defense Organization, Sojourner Truth House, and Theodore Roosevelt National Historic Site.
