The year 2017 is Chicago’s 180th birthday as a city. In 1837, the city of 4,000 people was created to
be the transfer point for water transport between the Great Lakes and the new
Illinois & Michigan Canal then under construction. After the fire in 1871, Chicago rose from its ashes to become the greatest city of the 19th
Century, and became a center of industry and commerce in the 20th Century. Dave Clark, the Windy City Road Warrior, talks about all the changes the city has gone
through, and the challenges that it faces now and in the future. For adults, and teens age 13 and up. Registration required.
