Stargazing 101: What You Can See From Your Own Backyard

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Crest Hill Branch
Meeting Room A/B

Event Details

Although light pollution has stolen the magic from the night sky for the vast majority of America's population, there are still wonders to be seen, with a little effort, and a little knowledge of where to look and what to look for. Rick Gering from the Naperville Astronomical Association (NAA) will introduce us to a collection of celestial targets that can be seen in telescopes, binoculars, or by the unaided eye, even in skies that never become truly dark.  Learn to recognize the planets, seasonal constellations and other starry roadmaps, and meet some magnificent star clusters, gorgeously tinted double stars, and whimsical asterisms that you can find from your own back yard using the star charts that will be provided.

Come join us Thursday October 3 at 7pm for an actual star gazing session here at the library.

Registration is required due to limited space. If you are not able to attend, please inform us 24 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to someone else. No shows may be waitlisted for future programs
