FIRST® LEGO® League Informational Meeting

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Lockport Branch
Meeting Room A/B

Event Details

Good news – the Library will be hosting an official LEGO® robotics team this fall for 4th through 8th graders!  It is being mentored by veteran robotics club teacher John Schulz.

Children who are interested in being a part of this team, which will meet weekly during during September, October, and November, and culminate with a December competition, should bring their parents to this informational meeting.

The goal of this team is to challenge kids to think like scientists and engineers. Students will research a real-world engineering challenge, develop a solution, and compete with LEGO® based robots of their own design in a fun team-oriented environment.

At the informational meeting, we will provide information regarding the program and meeting times, and answer any questions you or your student might have. Registrations will be taken after the meeting on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited. We expect the cost to be about $50 per student to cover competition fees. Please be prepared to pay on the day of the informational meeting.

If you are interested in joining and are unable to attend the meeting, please contact LEGO® robotics mentor John Schulz at porterbots@gmail.com

NOTE: This is not a LEGO® building club. Though we use LEGO® products, our focus is on learning how to apply scientific principles to solve problems and apply that learning in a competitive setting - the hardest fun students will ever have. This may not be the right group for students who are primarily interested in building objects with LEGOs®.
